I saw Bon Jovi in concert last week in Pittsburgh. It was my first concert in over a decade, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I must say, however, that it was a lot of fun. The music was great, visuals were dazzling, and the crowd was totally into it. It was a pretty interesting crowd… I felt old and young at the same time. I snapped a few photos and am sharing them here. Go see the concert for yourself!

I realized how long it had been since I go to a concert when I saw people waving their cell phones in the air while singing along some of the slower songs. I guess lighters aren’t in mode anymore. It was also funny to see people trying to take photos with their cell phone cameras. My Motorola Razor’s camera is pretty horrible, so that was a useless attempt. I took these photos with my Exilim 3.2 megapixel camera. It has no zoom, and the digital zoom comes out noisy, but the camera delivered nonetheless during the concert. Given how close I was sitting I wished I had been carrying a digital SLR, but I probably would have been tossed out. What are the rules on snapping photos in concerts nowadays anyway? Given that everyone was packing a camera (and some people did have some fairly big cameras), seems hard to control that. Anyway, times have changed I guess. That and I need to start going to more concerts.

I wanted to thank everyone for completing the brand survey results. For our Brand Strategy class project, our team researched Tumi. Our online survey results, which admittedly by its nature is not a very scientific study, yielded some interesting results. Interviews and survey results provided insight into a potential opportunities for Tumi. As a result, we proposed expanding its women’s line. Below I include two random charts only because they look kind of cool.

Was somewhat disappointed with this year’s Superbowl ads that I felt compelled to highlight this series of classic Reebok ads: Terry Tate, Office LInebacker. A friend found these on YouTube and I include them here for others to enjoy.

Creating a boolean radio button set while trying to build upon the source code samples in Beginning Rails book, but was having trouble with the radio buttons: selecting second one didn’t do anything, the first one would automatically get re-selected. Realized what the problem was: the label tags were messing me up. I needed to wrap each option (belonging to the radio group) in its own label tags. Duh!
<% form_tag :action => 'create' do %>
<label>Course ID:
<%= text_field :response, :course_id %></label>
<label>User ID:
<%= text_field :response, :user_id %></label>
<label>Rating:</label>
<%= radio_button :response, :rating, "1" %> Yes! <label>
<%= radio_button :response, :rating, "-1" %> No!
</label>
<label>Comments:
<%= text_area :response, :comments %></label>
<%= submit_tag 'Submit Response!' %>
<% end %>
